I help survivors of childhood trauma
reclaim their identity and restore their dignity
If we haven't officially met, my name is Ed Squire. I've dedicated my life to working with survivors of childhood trauma and abuse to help them restore their identity and regain their dignity. The advice, training, and information you are about to read come from my experience and perspective as a survivor.
I’m the founder of a nonprofit called MeTooWhatNow that I started in 2016.
MeTooWhatNow also advocates against child and adult sex trafficking,
For 25 years, I was a senior consultant for a global technology solutions company. I developed strategic IT business solutions for Fortune 500 and global organizations in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
In 2012, I met my ‘dark night of the soul’ when I faced my past head-on for the first time. Many survivors will know what I mean. I did my best to run from my past for decades while I was oblivious to the destruction I was causing in my life, my family, and others.
I developed severe mental health issues and lost my job. That's when I began the recovery process through intense therapy, medication, and learning to understand how the abuse I suffered as a child affected me as an adult.
My abuse and trauma came from being sexually abused by my step-grandfather, a next-door neighbor, and my elementary school teacher from age 4 until age 10. Although I was in therapy most of my life, it didn’t help save a 13-year marriage, and I ran from everything for decades.
It can be emotional, physical, or other events that changed who we are and our mental health and well-being. I also want to emphasize how easy it is to be deceived by ourselves.
Sometimes it takes a dramatic event and, sadly, profound loss to open our eyes.
